Garland Parks Update: Windsurf Bay & Fourth of July

May 20, 2020 - The City amended its ordinance on daily capacity at Windsurf Bay Park. On Memorial Day (May 23-25), Independence Day (July 3-4) and Labor Day (Sept. 5-7) weekends, Parks and Police officials will be on site. And when attendance reaches 1,000, nobody else will be allowed to enter the park for the remainder of the calendar day. While we encourage social distancing, Garland Police also remind users that alcohol and fireworks are prohibited in the park.

Additionally, Garland and its host partners at Firewheel Town Center decided against an official celebration on July 4. Many area cities have cancelled traditional large Independence Day gatherings.

Remember, if you choose to go to the park, please plan accordingly and continue to comply with physical distancing guidelines of a minimum of 6 feet from anyone not in your household. In addition, please comply with all City, County, State, and Federal guidelines, which include but are not limited to, wash your hands; avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth; cover your mouth and nose with elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze, and stay home if you feel sick.
